The pictures are not to scale but give you an idea of the difference in size of a contrabass and a tenor trombone. Direct comparisons: The tenor has a 7 1/2 inch bell; the contrabass, 10 1/2. The tenor has dual bore slide, .495, .510; the contrabass has an inner slide diameter of .578 inches. A symphonic bass trombone typically has a .563 bore slide with a 9 1/2 inch bell.
